What is Micro Needling?

During a Dermapen skin needling treatment is used for the purpose of breaking down old scar tissue and stimulating skin cells for proliferation. This help restore and refresh your skins appearance, treating acne scarring, stretch marks, ageing and fine lines and boost your natural collagen production, easily and safely with minimal downtime.

The Dermapen 4 treatment device glides gently along the skin, penetrating the layers of the skin closest to the surface, at a depth up to 2mm. The tiny, vibrating needles create numerous tiny needle wounds. When punctures are made using the Dermapen, the skin will treat the punctures as wounds and initiates a healing process where proteins such as collagen and elastin are produced. This therapy encourages the body to respond by creating new collagen and elastin fibres. As the skin responds, it plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars, wrinkles and fine lines.

Does Micro Needling treatment hurt?

Your Dermapen treatment experience will likely be minimally painful (if you feel any pain at all). The Dermapen 4 is designed so that the needles enter the skin at a perfect 90 degree angle, therefore the dermal roller doesn’t roll across your skin which is usually what causes the pain. Dermapen skin needling is minimally invasive and is considered a safe treatment that requires little to no downtime.

There are minimal side effects after a dermapen skin needling treatment, however some may experience redness, light flaking and slight swelling of the skin. After a Dermapen treatment, your skin is quick to rejuvenate new tissue and you should be able to see results within four to seven days after your session.

Who can have this treatment?

Skin needling can be safely performed on all skin types

Not suitable for those who have been on Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have cystic acne, open wounds, infections, psoriasis or dermatitis in the area to be treated, have uncontrolled diabetes, or who are prone to keloid scarring or other abnormal wound healing.

Post Care Information

A "sunburnt" look is usually apparent immediately after treatment, Slight redness may last 1-3 days but can be covered with mineral make up. We advise that you use only gentle products for the days following your procedure and apply sunscreen regularly. Hot baths, showers and saunas should be avoided for at least 3 days.

Exosomes should be used in microneedling because they supercharge the skin’s repair process by delivering high-performance cosmetic ingredients directly into the micro-channels created during the treatment.

This means the skin absorbs them more effectively, leading to faster-calming, brighter, smoother, and more refined results compared to microneedling alone.
