Laser Hair Removal

How laser hair removal works

A laser hair removal treatment involves the use of a concentrated beam of laser light to reduce the amount of unwanted hair. During the treatment, the laser emits light onto the skin which is then absorbed by the melanin (pigmentation) in the hair. The light energy produced by the laser is converted to heat which then causes damage to the hair follicles that produce hair. The damage then results in delays of future hair growth.

Benefits of laser hair removal treatment

Laser hair removal benefits include:

  • Permanent hair reduction

  • Thinner hair regrowth

  • Benefits those who experience ingrown hairs

  • Low maintenance

  • More cost effective

  • Can be performed on most parts of the body

  • No damage is done to the skin as the laser treatment targets hair follicles only

  • Less painful than waxing!

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal works to delay hair growth for long periods of time, however you do need to receive multiple treatments to see results. Usually 2 to 6 laser hair removal sessions are required initially depending on the area of hair growth. Maintenance treatments may be needed as well. As everyone’s skin and hair is different, results may vary depending on your skin type and hair. Our therapists at Skin and Clay will be able to create a treatment plan for your initial and maintenance sessions.
